The Transportation Policy Committee (TPC) is the decision making body for the MPO. The TPC consist of the mayors from each city in the MPO (Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake), a representative for Calcasieu Parish (the host parish for the MPO) and the Louisiana Deparatment of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Administrator. It approves and adopts all the transportation planning activities of the Lake Charles Urbanized Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The Committee also provides guidance to the MPO staff on policy matters.
The TPC meets bi-monthly, usually on the 4th Wednesday of that month at 10:00 a.m.
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) consist of transportation professionals working for governments and government agencies who review plans, projects and programs from a technical perspective and advise the TPC on technical issues.
The TAC meets bi-monthly, typically on the 3rd Thursday of that month at 10:00 a.m.
The Transit Advisory Committee's mission is to make the MPO area a more efficient and accessible place to use transit services. The Committee makes recommendations to the MPO on urban and rural transit related issues. The Transit Advisory Committee was originally established in 2007 with the adoption of the MPO Coordination In Human Services Transportation Plan.
The Transit Advisory Committee normally meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month on a quarterly month basis.
